Apple 2026 Buying Guide: iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 and AirPods 5

Apple has officially introduced its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The wearable lineup gets Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, while AirPods 5 bring active noise cancellation to Apple's entry-level open-ear earbuds.

For buyers in Nigeria, however, there's another important question beyond specifications:

How much will these devices actually cost when they reach Nigerian stores?

Apple has announced official U.S. starting prices, but Nigerian pricing isn't yet established across major local retailers. Early imported units will almost certainly command premiums because of exchange rates, shipping, duties, retailer margins and limited initial supply.

Here is what buyers should know.

The Nigerian figures above are early-market estimates, not official Apple or Nigerian retailer prices. Actual prices could move considerably once stock reaches Nigerian retailers.

1. iPhone 18 Pro — The Sensible Premium Choice

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, while storage options extend through 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. This year's major upgrade is the A20 Pro chip, built on a new 2nm process, accompanied by a next-generation vapor chamber designed to improve sustained performance.

Apple has also redesigned the camera experience. The 48MP Fusion Main camera now has a variable aperture, giving photographers greater control over depth of field and light entering the camera. You also get a smaller Dynamic Island, iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI experience.

Expected iPhone 18 Pro Price in Nigeria
I would initially budget approximately ₦2.3 million to ₦2.7 million for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro. That estimate isn't arbitrary. The previous iPhone 17 Pro 256GB is currently listed by iStore Nigeria for ₦1,949,000, reduced from ₦2,199,000. The new model has a higher $1,199 U.S. starting price, and early imported stock typically carries an additional premium.

Best for: Photographers, content creators, professionals and buyers who want flagship performance without carrying the largest iPhone.

2. iPhone 18 Pro Max — For Battery and Big-Screen Buyers

The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB. It shares the A20 Pro platform and new camera technologies with the regular Pro, but Apple says the Pro Max delivers the largest battery-life improvement ever in an iPhone. That makes the buying decision relatively straightforward. If you prefer a more manageable phone, buy the 18 Pro. If you prioritize screen size and maximum battery endurance, the 18 Pro Max is the better option.

Expected Price in Nigeria
A reasonable early Nigerian target is approximately ₦2.6 million–₦3 million for 256GB. For comparison, iStore Nigeria currently sells the previous-generation iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB for ₦2,349,000, reduced from ₦2,499,000. Expect early iPhone 18 Pro Max imports to command a substantial premium before prices stabilize.

Best for: Heavy users, gamers, creators, travellers and buyers who prioritize battery life.

3. iPhone Duo — Apple's First Foldable iPhone

This is easily the most interesting Apple product of 2026. The iPhone Duo is Apple's first folding smartphone, starting at $1,999 for 256GB. Storage configurations extend to 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. Closed, you get a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display. Open it and you get a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR folding display, giving the device a much larger workspace for multitasking, games, reading and video. Both displays support ProMotion, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness.

It also uses the same A20 Pro family as the iPhone 18 Pro and incorporates a custom vapor chamber. Interestingly, Apple has brought Touch ID back, integrating it into the side button rather than using Face ID as the primary biometric system.

Apple Pencil USB-C support is also coming later in the year.

iPhone Duo Battery Life
Apple has split the battery across both sides of the foldable. The company rates it for up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display or 44 hours using the outer display, with up to 24 hours of mixed usage. Fast charging can reach approximately 50% in 20 minutes, while MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging can reach 50% in around 30 minutes under Apple's testing conditions.

Expected iPhone Duo Price in Nigeria
This will be expensive. With a $1,999 starting price, I would budget approximately ₦3.8 million–₦4.5 million for early Nigerian 256GB units. And don't be surprised if some launch-week importers go even higher. The Duo isn't available immediately alongside the Pro models. Pre-orders begin October 16, with availability starting October 23.

Best for: Early adopters, executives, multitaskers, creators and people who want a phone/tablet hybrid.

Skip it if: You simply want the best conventional iPhone. The 18 Pro Max is significantly cheaper and avoids the inherent complexity of a first-generation folding design.

4. Apple Watch Series 12 — Best Apple Watch for Most People

The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399 and arrives September 18. The big upgrade is Apple's new Health Sensing System, paired with the S11 chip. Apple says the system enables higher-frequency heart-rate and heart-rate-variability measurements. These measurements contribute to a new readiness score, designed to help users understand whether their body appears ready for a demanding day or may benefit from recovery. The redesigned Health experience also expands longer-term health insights.

Expected Nigeria Price
Depending on case size, material and connectivity configuration, I would expect entry-level Series 12 models to begin somewhere around ₦700,000–₦900,000 during early Nigerian availability. Premium titanium and cellular configurations could cost considerably more.

Best for: Everyday fitness, sleep tracking, notifications, workouts and buyers who don't need the rugged Ultra design. For most iPhone owners wanting an Apple Watch, Series 12 is the model I'd buy.

5. Apple Watch Ultra 4 — For Athletes and Adventurers

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at $799. It retains the large 49mm Grade 5 titanium case and adds Apple's S11 chip and new Health Sensing System.

Battery life is one of its biggest advantages. Apple rates the Ultra 4 for up to 50 hours of normal use and up to 84 hours in Low Power Mode. A 15-minute charge can add up to 18 hours of battery life under Apple's testing conditions. Athletes also get Extended Workout modes. Max Extended Workout mode can track outdoor activity for up to 45 hours, while retaining one-second GPS readings.

The Ultra 4 additionally includes satellite communication capabilities for situations where conventional cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity isn't available.

Expected Nigeria Price
With a $799 U.S. starting price, Nigerian buyers should prepare for roughly ₦1.4 million–₦1.7 million initially.

Best for: Runners, hikers, endurance athletes, outdoor workers and anyone who wants substantially better battery life than the standard Apple Watch.

For ordinary notification and fitness tracking, Series 12 offers better value.

6. AirPods 5 — ANC Is Now Standard

Perhaps the biggest surprise with AirPods 5 is what Apple has done with noise cancellation. The standard AirPods 5 start at $129, and Apple now includes Active Noise Cancellation even in the open-ear design. Apple claims ANC removes up to 50% more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC under its testing methodology.

There's also an upgraded acoustic architecture, next-generation Adaptive EQ, Transparency mode, Siri AI integration, head gestures and Live Translation. That makes AirPods 5 significantly more capable than a basic pair of Bluetooth earbuds.

$129 vs $149 AirPods 5: What's the Difference?
There are two versions.

AirPods 5 — $129: You get the new earbuds, ANC and core AirPods features.

AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case — $149: The additional $20 gets you the wireless charging case, longer total battery life and on-stem volume controls.

For only $20 more, I'd choose the $149 version.

Expected AirPods 5 Price in Nigeria
Early Nigerian pricing will likely be approximately:

Standard AirPods 5: ₦220,000–₦280,000

AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case: ₦250,000–₦320,000

These are estimates until major authorized Nigerian retailers publish local stock and prices.
Best for: iPhone users who want lightweight open-ear earbuds, ANC, calls, Siri and ecosystem integration without moving up to AirPods Pro.

Final Buying Recommendations

The iPhone 18 Pro is the safest premium purchase from Apple's 2026 launch. At $1,199, you get the A20 Pro, variable-aperture 48MP camera, improved cooling, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI without paying the enormous premium attached to Apple's first foldable.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max makes more sense if battery life and the largest conventional iPhone experience are priorities.

The iPhone Duo is the enthusiast choice. Its 7.6-inch folding screen and iOS 27 multitasking capabilities represent something genuinely new for Apple, but its $1,999 starting price means Nigerian early adopters should realistically prepare for something around ₦4 million or potentially higher.

For wearables, Apple Watch Series 12 offers the best balance for ordinary users, while Ultra 4 is the obvious choice for endurance athletes and people who need its much longer battery life.

Finally, AirPods 5 may offer the easiest entry point into Apple's new hardware generation. At $129 internationally or $149 with the better wireless charging case, they bring ANC, improved sound and deeper Siri AI integration without flagship-earbud pricing.

For Nigerian buyers, however, the smartest move may be simple:

Don't rush to pay launch-week prices

Wait for local stock to increase, compare reputable retailers and distinguish official Nigerian pricing from the premiums being charged on early imported units. The hardware will still be new a few weeks later — but the price could be considerably easier to justify.
