OPPO Enco X4 Review: Premium Sound, AI Translation, Smarter ANC and 53-Hour Battery Life

The OPPO Enco X4 enters the premium wireless earbuds market with an interesting proposition: high-resolution audio, intelligent noise cancellation, real-time AI translation and battery endurance that could reduce how often you reach for a charger.

At roughly $169, these earbuds compete in a category where sound quality alone is no longer enough. Buyers increasingly expect reliable microphones, seamless device switching, comfortable fit and software features that genuinely improve everyday listening.

The Enco X4 has the hardware to compete, particularly its dual-driver audio architecture and upgraded 6nm processing platform. But its strongest features also come with limitations worth understanding before buying.

Design and comfort: built for everyday listening

The Enco X4 retains the familiar stem-style design but introduces refinements intended to improve fit and passive noise isolation. Each earbud weighs approximately 5.6g, making the pair reasonably lightweight for extended listening sessions. OPPO includes foam-enhanced silicone ear tips, an important detail because a secure acoustic seal affects bass reproduction and active noise cancellation.

The earbuds also carry an IP55 rating, offering protection against dust and water jets. That makes them suitable for commuting, workouts and light rain, although they are not designed for swimming.

Three colour options provide some variety without making the design overly flashy. The main limitation is fit. In-ear earbuds are highly personal, and even an expensive pair can become uncomfortable if the supplied tips do not match your ears.

Sound quality: Dynaudio tuning meets dual-driver engineering

The most interesting audio feature is the combination of an 11mm dynamic bass driver and 6mm tweeter. Rather than asking one driver to reproduce every frequency, the Enco X4 separates low-frequency and higher-frequency reproduction through its coaxial dual-driver architecture.

A dual-DAC arrangement handles frequency division, while Dynaudio contributes to the tuning. This architecture offers the potential for more controlled bass, clearer vocals and better separation between instruments. The earbuds support 24-bit/48kHz high-resolution audio and a reported transmission rate reaching 2.3Mbps under compatible conditions.

For listeners who use lossless music services, that specification is attractive. However, high-resolution transmission requires compatible hardware, software and audio settings.

An iPhone using AAC, for example, will not automatically provide the same high-resolution wireless experience as a compatible Android device using LHDC.
The hardware looks promising, but actual tonal balance, distortion and detail retrieval require listening tests before drawing a definitive sound-quality conclusion.

ANC: smarter cancellation for different environments

Active noise cancellation is one of the Enco X4's central selling points. Its adaptive ANC system offers several listening options:

  • Deep noise cancellation

  • Medium noise cancellation

  • Light noise cancellation

  • Adaptive noise cancellation

  • Transparency mode

The idea is straightforward. A quiet office does not require the same cancellation intensity as a crowded train or busy roadside. Adaptive ANC adjusts the processing according to surrounding conditions, while transparency mode allows environmental sound to pass through when awareness matters.

OPPO Enco X4 has suppression of up to 99.8% of everyday noise under specified testing conditions. That number should not be interpreted as eliminating 99.8% of every sound around you. Noise cancellation effectiveness varies considerably by frequency, fit and environment. Low-frequency engine noise is generally easier to suppress than sudden speech or sharp, unpredictable sounds.

For commuters and frequent travelers, ANC could be one of the most valuable features, although independent testing will determine how it compares with established premium alternatives.

AI translation: an ambitious feature with practical potential

One of the biggest additions is AI-powered real-time translation across 24 languages. The feature is designed to support conversations between people speaking different languages, with translated information delivered through the earbuds and a connected device interface.

Potential use cases include international travel, multilingual meetings, customer support and conversations with overseas business partners. For professionals working across borders, this is arguably more interesting than another small improvement in audio specifications. However, AI translation should not be treated as flawless simultaneous interpretation.

Accuracy depends on supported languages, speech clarity, accents, background noise and the software environment. Some features may also require compatible OPPO devices or region-specific software support. Buyers should verify availability on their own phones before purchasing specifically for translation.

Calls, spatial audio and intelligent controls

The Enco X4 includes four microphones, combining conventional microphones with a VPU microphone designed to help capture speech. AI call noise reduction processes microphone input to improve voice clarity in noisy environments. This could be particularly useful for calls taken while walking, commuting or working in shared spaces.

Spatial audio adds another listening option by creating a more immersive sound presentation for supported content. There are also head-motion controls, pressure-based interactions and sliding gestures, reducing the need to constantly reach for a smartphone. Bluetooth 6.1 and dual-device connectivity are welcome additions. The ability to remain connected to a laptop and smartphone is particularly useful for professionals moving between meetings, music and phone calls.

Battery life: impressive, but ANC changes the numbers

Battery endurance is another major strength on paper. With AAC and ANC disabled, the earbuds are rated for up to 13 hours of playback, extending to 53 hours with the charging case.

Switch ANC on and the figures change substantially: approximately 6 hours from the earbuds and 26 hours with the case using AAC. With LHDC and ANC enabled, total endurance drops further to around 22 hours. These differences matter more than the headline 53-hour figure.

For office workers who frequently use ANC, planning around six-hour listening sessions is more realistic than expecting 13 hours. Charging is available through USB-C and wireless charging, with the case requiring approximately 65 minutes for a wired charge under the published conditions.

OPPO Enco X4 price in Nigeria

The Enco X4 launched in China at ¥1,199, with an introductory price of ¥1,099. Converted international pricing places it around $169, although that is not an official US retail price.

In Nigeria, current price tracking estimates approximately ₦250,600. That figure remains provisional. We could not confirm an active Nigerian retailer listing, so buyers should account for import costs, exchange-rate changes and warranty availability.
At this price, the Enco X4 sits firmly in premium-earbuds territory rather than competing with affordable everyday wireless earphones.

Limitations: what buyers should consider

The Enco X4 has several compromises worth noting. First, its best high-resolution audio features depend on codec and device compatibility. Second, AI translation may not provide identical functionality across Android, iOS and different regional firmware versions. Third, the advertised 53-hour battery life assumes ANC is switched off. Heavy ANC use reduces endurance considerably. Finally, premium sound specifications do not guarantee universally comfortable fit or superior real-world microphone performance. Those details are best established through extended hands-on testing.

Verdict: should you buy the OPPO Enco X4?

The OPPO Enco X4 is a compelling premium wireless-earbuds option for listeners who want more than basic Bluetooth audio. Its Dynaudio-tuned dual-driver architecture, adaptive ANC, AI translation, spatial audio and dual-device connectivity create a well-rounded feature package. The battery specifications are competitive, and IP55 protection makes the earbuds practical for everyday use.

Best for: Music enthusiasts, frequent travelers, remote workers, multilingual professionals and Android users seeking high-resolution audio.

Think twice if: You primarily use an iPhone, need guaranteed compatibility with specific AI features or want affordable earbuds for occasional listening.

At $169 internationally and an estimated ₦250,600 in Nigeria, the Enco X4 deserves consideration but a final sound-quality and ANC performance rating should wait for independent hands-on testing.
