OPPO Pad Mini Review: Price, Specs and Features

OPPO Pad Mini: A Small Tablet With Flagship-Level Hardware

Small tablets are becoming increasingly interesting for people who want something more portable than a laptop but more practical than a smartphone. The OPPO Pad Mini takes that idea seriously. It combines an 8.8-inch display with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, an 8,000mAh battery and 67W fast charging, while keeping the device compact enough to carry around easily. OPPO lists the tablet at just 5.39mm thick and 279g in weight. It was officially introduced in April 2026, with sales beginning in China on April 30. For Nigerian buyers, however, the biggest question isn't simply whether the specifications look impressive.

It is: Is the OPPO Pad Mini worth importing or buying at its current Nigerian price?

OPPO's official specifications confirm the 8.8-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, 8,000mAh battery, 67W charging, 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

OPPO Pad Mini Display: Small but Seriously Sharp

The tablet's 8.8-inch OLED display is one of its strongest features. It has a 2520 × 1680 resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio and an adaptive refresh rate reaching 144Hz. OPPO also lists a 344 PPI pixel density and a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 92.5%. That combination makes the Pad Mini particularly interesting for gaming and media consumption. The 3:2 aspect ratio is also useful for productivity because it provides more vertical workspace than many conventional widescreen tablets. For students, this could make reading PDFs, viewing lecture materials, browsing websites and taking notes more comfortable than doing the same tasks on a smartphone.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Makes It a Gaming Tablet

The biggest reason to consider the OPPO Pad Mini isn't its cameras. It is the processor. The tablet uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, with an eight-core CPU reaching up to 3.8GHz and an Adreno 829 GPU. OPPO pairs the processor with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. This is considerably more serious hardware than what you normally find in inexpensive Android tablets. For gamers, that means the Pad Mini is designed for demanding titles rather than simply casual games. Games such as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, Genshin Impact and other demanding Android titles should be much more appropriate for this class of hardware than they would be on an entry-level tablet.

However, gaming performance will still depend on the individual game's optimization, thermal behaviour and graphics settings. The major advantage is that the Pad Mini gives you a large gaming display without the size of a conventional 11- or 12-inch tablet.

144Hz Refresh Rate: Why Gamers Will Like It

The display supports refresh rates from 60Hz to 144Hz, with adaptive switching depending on the workload. A high refresh rate doesn't automatically make a game run at 144 frames per second. The game and hardware must be capable of producing those frames. But when supported, a higher refresh rate can make scrolling, animations and compatible games appear noticeably smoother. This is one of the reasons the Pad Mini looks more like a gaming-focused compact tablet than a basic device for watching YouTube.

8,000mAh Battery and 67W Charging

Battery life is another major strength. OPPO equips the Pad Mini with an 8,000mAh battery and support for up to 67W fast charging. That is a substantial battery for such a compact tablet. For students, it means you can potentially use the tablet for long study sessions without constantly searching for a charger. For travellers, the large battery is useful for entertainment during long journeys. For gamers, however, don't expect 8,000mAh to translate into unlimited gaming. High-performance games running the processor and display at high refresh rates can consume considerably more power than reading documents or browsing the web. The 67W charging support is therefore particularly useful because it reduces the time required to refill the battery.

OPPO Pad Mini Storage Options

The Pad Mini comes in configurations including 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage. For most users, 256GB should be enough for apps, documents, games and media. The 12GB + 512GB version makes more sense for serious gamers or people who keep large libraries of games, videos and other files locally. One limitation is that the tablet does not support expandable storage, according to current specification listings.

So choose your storage carefully before buying.

OPPO Pad Mini Camera

The tablet has a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. OPPO lists 4K video recording at up to 30fps for the rear camera. These cameras aren't the main reason to buy the Pad Mini. The rear camera is useful for scanning documents, taking quick photos and recording video, while the front camera can handle video calls and online classes.

If photo is your priority, however, a good smartphone will usually be the better device.

OPPO Pad Mini Price in Nigeria

This is where Nigerian buyers need to pay attention. Current Nigerian market listings show significant variation depending on the RAM/storage configuration and seller. One Nigerian price listing currently puts the 8GB/256GB model between approximately ₦538,650 and ₦714,150, while the 12GB/256GB version ranges from approximately ₦579,150 to ₦754,650. The 12GB/512GB model is listed between approximately ₦633,150 and ₦808,650. Another Nigerian specification listing puts the configurations at approximately ₦800,000 for 8GB/256GB, ₦850,000 for 12GB/256GB and ₦900,000 for 12GB/512GB.

Because these are imported-market prices rather than a clearly established nationwide OPPO Nigeria retail price, check the seller's current price, warranty and exact variant before paying. For context, OPPO's official Chinese launch pricing started at ¥3,699 for 8GB/256GB, rising to ¥3,999 for 12GB/256GB and ¥4,499 for 12GB/512GB.

Who Should Buy the OPPO Pad Mini?

Students: The compact size makes it attractive for students who want a device for PDFs, research, online classes, note-taking and entertainment without carrying a large tablet.

Mobile Gamers: This is arguably the strongest target audience. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, high-refresh-rate OLED display and large battery make the Pad Mini considerably more interesting for gaming than ordinary budget tablets.

Remote Workers: The tablet can handle browsing, documents, communication and productivity applications. OPPO also advertises productivity features including PC-class WPS, file management and AI-assisted tools on its Chinese product page. However, anyone doing serious desktop-style work should still consider a laptop.

Travellers: At 279g and just 5.39mm thick, the Pad Mini is designed to be highly portable. It can fit into a small bag much more easily than many full-size tablets.

Who Should Not Buy It?

The Pad Mini isn't perfect. You should consider alternatives if you:

  • Need a cellular/SIM-enabled tablet.

  • Want expandable microSD storage.

  • Need a professional camera.

  • Prefer a very large screen.

  • Mainly perform laptop-level productivity.

  • Don't play demanding games.

  • Are uncomfortable buying an imported device without strong local warranty support.

The lack of expandable storage and the absence of a conventional 3.5mm headphone jack are also worth considering.

Is OPPO Pad Mini Worth Buying in Nigeria?

The OPPO Pad Mini is one of the more interesting compact Android tablets of 2026, particularly for users who prioritize gaming and portability. Its combination of an 8.8-inch 2.5K OLED display, up to 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, up to 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, 8,000mAh battery and 67W charging gives it a specification sheet that goes well beyond typical budget tablets. For Nigerian buyers, the biggest issue is price. At roughly ₦540,000–₦810,000 depending on configuration and seller, it is no longer a cheap tablet. But if you specifically want a small gaming tablet that is powerful enough for demanding Android games while remaining easy to carry, the Pad Mini makes considerably more sense.

Our verdict

The OPPO Pad Mini isn't designed to replace a laptop or flagship smartphone. Instead, it occupies an interesting middle ground: a compact, powerful Android tablet for people who want flagship-class performance without carrying a large tablet. For Nigerian gamers and students who can find the 8GB/256GB version around the lower end of the current market range, it could be one of the more compelling small tablets to consider in 2026.
