Oraimo SpaceBox Max 200W Review: Party Sound Tested

A 200W Oraimo Speaker Built for More Than Your Living Room

If you think of Oraimo as a brand mainly known for affordable earbuds, headphones and small Bluetooth speakers, the SpaceBox Max OBS-982 is a reminder that the company is also moving into much larger party-audio territory. The SpaceBox Max is a 200W wireless party speaker designed for people who want considerably more volume than a conventional portable Bluetooth speaker can provide. It combines dual 6.5-inch subwoofers, 2.25-inch tweeters, HavyBass, karaoke features, RGB lighting, multiple input options and Auracast multi-speaker connectivity. It is also genuinely portable—but "portable" needs some context. At 585 × 286 × 266mm and around 13.7kg, this is something you carry using its handles rather than something you casually throw into a backpack.

So who is it really for?

For a Nigerian buyer, the SpaceBox Max makes the most sense if you're looking for one speaker that can handle house parties, outdoor gatherings, camping, karaoke, small events and entertainment away from the mains.

How Much Is the Oraimo SpaceBox Max in Nigeria?

This is one of the more important considerations. Oraimo lists the SpaceBox Max at around ₦399,000, while other retailers and marketplaces show prices around ₦433,220, depending on the seller and whether the package includes microphones.

For a buying guide, therefore, I'd budget approximately ₦399,000–₦433,000 rather than treating one particular listing as a permanent price. That puts the SpaceBox Max firmly in the premium party-speaker category.

200W: What Does That Actually Mean?

The headline feature is obviously the 200W output. But wattage shouldn't be interpreted as simply "200W is twice as loud as 100W." The SpaceBox Max combines its rated output with two 6.5-inch subwoofers and 2.25-inch tweeters, with Oraimo's HavyBass technology handling the low-frequency emphasis.

In practical terms, this is designed to produce a much larger sound presentation than compact 20W–30W portable speakers. That matters when you're playing music in:

  • A large living room

  • A backyard

  • An outdoor gathering

  • A birthday party

  • A campsite

  • A small event venue

The larger drivers are particularly important for bass-heavy Nigerian music, Afrobeats, hip-hop and dance music where low-frequency impact can make a major difference.

Is It Good for a House Party?

Absolutely—and this is probably one of its strongest use cases. The SpaceBox Max isn't merely designed to play music loudly. It adds the features people actually want during a party. The built-in lighting system can synchronize with music, while the Oraimo Sound app allows users to customize aspects of the sound and lighting experience.

You can also connect a microphone for karaoke. That means the speaker can effectively become the entertainment system for a birthday party or family gathering without requiring a separate amplifier and speaker setup.

For a typical Nigerian house party, the 200W output should provide plenty of headroom. The main challenge may actually be whether your neighbours appreciate the speaker as much as you do.

What About Camping?

This is where the SpaceBox Max becomes more interesting. Oraimo specifically promotes the speaker's Playtime Boost Mode for longer sessions, including camping trips. It can provide up to 15 hours at medium volume, according to the company's specifications.

That gives you considerably more flexibility than a small speaker that needs to be recharged after a few hours. The speaker can also operate from AC power while charging, thanks to its power-path management system. Oraimo says this allows continued maximum-volume playback while the battery recharges.

However, there's one important limitation for outdoor use. It is IPX4—not fully waterproof. IPX4 means the speaker is designed to withstand water splashes, but this is not the type of speaker you should deliberately leave exposed to heavy rain or put near a swimming pool where it could be submerged.

For camping, therefore, keep it under shelter when rain starts.

Battery Life: 6 Hours at Full Volume or 15 Hours at Medium Volume

The battery is rated at 5,200mAh/11.1V.

Oraimo claims:

Up to 6 hours at maximum volume

and

up to 15 hours at medium volume.

This difference is important.

If you're planning to run the speaker at maximum volume throughout an outdoor event, don't expect the advertised 15-hour figure. For a camping trip or relaxed gathering, medium volume should provide significantly better endurance. The speaker takes approximately 2.5 hours to charge.

Auracast Could Be Its Most Interesting Feature

One of the SpaceBox Max's most unusual features is Auracast. Oraimo says the speaker can connect with more than 100 compatible speakers through Auracast for synchronized playback. Obviously, most households aren't going to own 100 SpaceBox Max speakers. But the technology becomes useful for larger events.

Imagine an outdoor event where multiple compatible speakers need to play the same music across different areas. Instead of having completely independent audio sources, Auracast can synchronize compatible speakers. For ordinary users, however, consider this a future-proofing feature rather than the primary reason to buy the speaker.

Karaoke and Guitar Support Make It More Than a Bluetooth Speaker

The SpaceBox Max includes 6.35mm microphone and guitar inputs. This is significant if you enjoy karaoke, live performances or informal music sessions. You can connect a microphone and guitar directly, while the Oraimo Sound app provides controls for elements such as bass, treble, reverb and accompaniment.

This could make the SpaceBox Max particularly useful for:

  • Birthday parties

  • Family gatherings

  • Karaoke nights

  • Small outdoor performances

  • Church or community activities

  • Street or outdoor entertainment

It's still not a replacement for professional PA equipment, but it offers considerably more functionality than an ordinary Bluetooth speaker.

Multiple Ways to Play Music

You aren't restricted to Bluetooth.

The SpaceBox Max supports:

  • Bluetooth

  • AUX

  • USB

  • Memory card

  • Microphone

  • Guitar

That is particularly useful in Nigeria, where you may not always want to depend on an internet connection or even a smartphone. You can put music on a memory card or USB drive and play it directly

Is the SpaceBox Max Easy to Move?

For its size, Oraimo has made an effort to keep transportation practical. The speaker has two handles and a tripod mounting hole, allowing it to be carried and positioned for different events. But don't mistake "portable" for "lightweight."

At around 13.7kg, this is a substantial speaker. It's portable enough to move from your house to a car, campsite or event venue, but you probably won't want to carry it several kilometres on foot.

Who Should Buy the Oraimo SpaceBox Max?

The SpaceBox Max makes the most sense for people who need high-volume entertainment rather than a personal Bluetooth speaker.

Buy it for house parties: The 200W output, bass-focused drivers, lighting and karaoke functions make it well suited to parties.

Buy it for outdoor gatherings: Its battery allows several hours of wireless playback, while its handles make transportation easier.

Buy it for camping: The advertised 15-hour medium-volume runtime and Playtime Boost Mode make it useful for extended outdoor sessions.

Buy it for karaoke: The microphone input, guitar input and customizable effects are major advantages.

Buy it for small events: The combination of battery power, AC operation, tripod mounting and 200W output makes it more flexible than ordinary consumer Bluetooth speakers.

Who Should Avoid It?

Not everyone needs a 200W party speaker. If you primarily listen to music in a bedroom, small office or quiet apartment, the SpaceBox Max is probably overkill. You would be paying for power, large drivers, lighting, karaoke and event features that you may rarely use. A smaller Oraimo speaker such as the SpaceBox Active 25W is much easier to carry and significantly cheaper. Oraimo Nigeria currently lists the SpaceBox Active at ₦55,900, putting it in a completely different price category.

Final Verdict

At around ₦380,000–₦430,000, the Oraimo SpaceBox Max is no longer an impulse purchase. You're spending serious money on a party speaker.

You get 200W output, dual 6.5-inch subwoofers, 2.25-inch tweeters, Bluetooth 6.0, up to 15 hours of advertised medium-volume playback, karaoke, guitar support, USB, AUX, memory-card playback, synchronized lighting and Auracast. The most important question isn't whether it is powerful enough.

It is: Do you actually need a speaker this powerful?

If you're buying for house parties, outdoor gatherings, camping, karaoke or small events, the SpaceBox Max is a compelling all-in-one option. If you simply want music while working, studying or relaxing at home, save your money and buy something smaller.
