Honor Play 11 Pro Review: 7,000mAh Battery and 6,500-Nit OLED Display for Less
Honor Play 11 Pro review covering its 7,000mAh battery, 6,500-nit OLED display, camera, performance, price in Nigeria and key features.

Honor has quietly introduced a smartphone that could attract buyers who care more about battery life, display quality and durability than having an expensive flagship camera system.
The new Honor Play 11 Pro combines a 6.6-inch 1.5K OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, a huge 7,000mAh battery and IP66 protection in a body measuring just 7.34mm thick. It was launched in China in August 2026, with prices starting at ¥1,899.
For Nigerian buyers, that combination makes the Play 11 Pro an interesting alternative to some of the more expensive Samsung, Xiaomi, Tecno and Infinix models.

The 6.6-Inch OLED Display Is a Major Highlight
The display is arguably the most impressive part of the Honor Play 11 Pro. It uses a 6.6-inch OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. More unusually, Honor advertises up to 6,500 nits peak brightness, along with 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The 120Hz refresh rate should make scrolling, social media and compatible games feel smoother than a conventional 60Hz display. The extremely high brightness figure could also be useful in Africa, where strong sunlight can make ordinary smartphone screens difficult to see outdoors. However, buyers should remember that peak brightness figures are not the same as sustained full-screen brightness during normal use.
A Huge 7,000mAh Battery
Battery life could be the biggest reason to consider this phone. Honor has fitted a 7,000mAh battery while keeping the device only 7.34mm thick and around 185g.
For Nigerian users who spend long periods away from a reliable power supply, this is particularly attractive. Heavy social-media users, commuters, students and people who use their phone as a hotspot could all benefit from the larger battery.
Charging is rated at 45W, which isn't the fastest charging technology available today, but it should provide a reasonable balance between charging speed and the phone's very large battery.
Performance: More Mid-Range Than Flagship
The Play 11 Pro isn't trying to compete directly with premium phones using Snapdragon 8-series or flagship MediaTek processors. Honor lists a MediaTek Dimensity 6500-series chipset, putting the device more firmly in the mid-range category.
That should make it suitable for everyday activities such as WhatsApp, TikTok, YouTube, browsing, photography and multitasking. It may also handle casual and moderately demanding games, but buyers looking specifically for a gaming phone should look at devices with a more powerful chipset.
50MP Camera, but Don't Buy It for Photos
The rear camera setup is relatively straightforward: a 50MP main camera, accompanied by an 8MP front-facing camera. This is one area where Honor appears to have prioritised cost and battery life over a sophisticated flagship camera system.
For everyday photos, social media and video calls, the hardware should be adequate. But if photography is your number-one priority, there are other phones in this price category with more advanced camera systems.

Built to Handle Dust and Water
The phone uses a unibody vacuum die-cast metal frame and carries an IP66 rating. That gives it useful protection against dust and powerful water jets, although an IP rating should not be interpreted as an invitation to deliberately submerge the phone. For everyday Nigerian conditions—dust, accidental splashes and outdoor use—the additional protection is a welcome feature.
Honor Play 11 Pro Price in Nigeria
The Honor Play 11 Pro launched in China at:
8GB + 128GB — ¥1,899
8GB + 256GB — ¥2,099
12GB + 256GB — ¥2,399
Using an exchange rate of approximately ₦200.42 to ¥1 on August 25, 2026, the direct currency conversions are roughly:
Version | Chinese price | Approx. converted price |
|---|---|---|
8GB + 128GB | ¥1,899 | ₦380,500 |
8GB + 256GB | ¥2,099 | ₦420,600 |
12GB + 256GB | ¥2,399 | ₦480,700 |
The exchange-rate conversion is only an indication. Nigerian retail prices will likely be higher after shipping, taxes, importer margins and other costs.

Should You Buy the Honor Play 11 Pro?
The Honor Play 11 Pro is an interesting choice if your priorities are battery life, a bright OLED display and durability. The combination of a 7,000mAh battery, 120Hz 1.5K OLED display, IP66 protection and relatively slim 185g body is difficult to ignore. However, the camera and processor specifications suggest that this is fundamentally a battery-focused mid-range smartphone, rather than a true flagship.
Our Verdict
Best for: students, heavy phone users, commuters, content consumers and people who want long battery life.
Not ideal for: serious mobile gamers, photography enthusiasts and buyers specifically looking for flagship-level processing power. At a converted starting price of roughly ₦381,000 before Nigerian import costs, the Honor Play 11 Pro could become a compelling option if local retailers keep the final price competitive.
The standout feature isn't the “Pro” name—it's that massive 7,000mAh battery combined with a 6,500-nit 120Hz OLED display.
