POCO X7 Pro Review: Performance, Battery & Nigeria Price

There are phones that look impressive on paper, and then there are phones that make you wonder how the manufacturer managed to fit so much hardware into the price. The POCO X7 Pro belongs firmly in the second category. It is built around a MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra processor, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. It also has a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display running at up to 120Hz, a 6,000mAh battery, 90W HyperCharge and IP68 protection. And that combination tells you exactly what POCO is trying to do. This isn't primarily a camera phone. It isn't trying to be the thinnest phone. It's a performance phone.

Performance Is the Main Attraction

Let's start with the obvious reason to buy this phone.

Performance:
The Dimensity 8400-Ultra is the heart of the X7 Pro, and POCO positions it as a flagship-level performance chipset. Xiaomi's Nigerian product page reports an AnTuTu score of 1,704,330, although that is an internal test result and real-world results will vary. In everyday use, the hardware is far more than most people need. WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Chrome, banking apps and multitasking shouldn't be a problem. But gaming is where the phone starts to make more sense. The combination of the Dimensity 8400-Ultra, LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage gives the X7 Pro the kind of hardware that makes demanding games its natural territory.

POCO has also included a thermal management system with 10 temperature sensors to monitor the phone and adjust cooling strategies according to usage. Of course, sustained gaming performance will still depend on temperature, game settings and software optimisation. But this is one of the few phones in this price range where you can confidently say: performance is not the compromise.

The Display Is Another Big Win

The X7 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display, offering 2712 × 1220 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. That 1.5K resolution is a nice middle ground. It is sharper than a typical Full HD+ panel without going all the way to a resolution that would unnecessarily consume more power. The 120Hz refresh rate also makes scrolling and animations feel considerably smoother. For gaming, movies, TikTok and general browsing, this is one of the phone's strongest features. And with a reported peak brightness of 3,200 nits, the display has plenty of brightness headroom, although peak brightness figures don't necessarily represent what you'll see across the entire screen in normal use.

6,000mAh Battery + 90W Charging

This is probably my favourite part of the X7 Pro. A 6,000mAh battery is already large, but POCO pairs it with 90W HyperCharge. Xiaomi says the global version can charge from 0 to 100% in about 42 minutes under its test conditions. That's the combination you want. A big battery means you don't have to constantly think about charging. Fast charging means that when you eventually need to plug in, you don't have to wait around for hours.

For users dealing with long commutes, unstable electricity or simply spending most of the day away from a socket, this is genuinely useful. One thing to remember: the battery is non-removable.

The Camera Is Good, Not the Reason to Buy It

The X7 Pro has a 50MP main camera with OIS alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera is 20MP. The main camera is capable of producing good everyday photographs, and optical image stabilisation is useful for reducing camera shake and improving low-light shots. It can also record 4K video at up to 60fps with the rear camera. But don't buy this phone expecting it to compete with the best camera-focused phones. POCO has clearly spent more of the budget on the processor, display, battery and charging system. And honestly, I think that's the right decision for this phone.

IP68 Protection Is a Nice Bonus

The X7 Pro also has IP68 dust and water resistance. That's important because performance-focused phones aren't always known for strong environmental protection. It doesn't mean you should deliberately put the phone underwater, but having IP68 protection provides useful reassurance against accidental splashes, rain and dust.

For Nigeria, where phones can be exposed to rain, dusty roads and outdoor conditions, it's a feature worth having.

What I Don't Like

The X7 Pro isn't perfect. The camera system is clearly behind the phone's performance hardware. There's also no microSD card slot, so buyers should choose their storage carefully. The official specifications list 256GB and 512GB configurations, with storage using UFS 4.0. And at around 210g, it's not exactly a lightweight phone. That is understandable considering the large battery and hardware inside, but you'll notice the weight more than you would with a smaller device. The other thing is software. The X7 Pro launched with Android 15 and HyperOS. HyperOS is functional and feature-rich, but buyers who prefer a very clean Android experience may find it busier than stock Android.

POCO X7 Pro Price in Nigeria

The POCO X7 Pro launched in Nigeria with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage priced at ₦589,000. However, current Nigerian retail listings are slightly higher. As of September 2026, Jumia has the 12GB/512GB POCO X7 Pro listed around ₦618,000, although prices and stock can change. So a realistic current Nigeria price is approximately ₦589,000–₦620,000, depending on the seller and current promotions. At that price, the X7 Pro becomes particularly interesting.

Who Should Buy the POCO X7 Pro?

This is the phone I'd look at if your priorities are:

  • Gaming.

  • Performance.

  • Battery life.

  • Fast charging.

  • A high-quality display.

  • Lots of storage and RAM.

It makes sense for students, gamers, content consumers and power users who want a phone that feels fast rather than simply looks expensive. If your number-one priority is photography, however, I'd spend more time looking at camera-focused alternatives.

Final Verdict

The POCO X7 Pro is one of those phones where the specification sheet actually tells an important part of the story. A Dimensity 8400-Ultra chip, 12GB RAM, 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, 6,000mAh battery, 90W charging and IP68 protection is a serious package.

And at roughly ₦589,000 to ₦620,000 in Nigeria, it's difficult to ignore if performance is your priority. The camera isn't its strongest feature, and HyperOS won't be everyone's favourite Android experience. But that's not really what this phone is about. It's about speed, endurance and value. If you want a phone around ₦600,000 that feels like POCO spent the money where you'll actually notice it, the X7 Pro is still a seriously compelling choice.
