Redmi Watch 6 Active Review: Price, Specs & Battery Life
Xiaomi Redmi Watch 6 Active review covering its Nigeria price, AMOLED display, 18-day battery life, Bluetooth calling, health tracking and sports features.

Xiaomi has expanded its affordable wearable lineup with the Redmi Watch 6 Active, a new budget smartwatch that offers an AMOLED display, Bluetooth calling, more than 140 sports modes and up to 18 days of advertised battery life.
The watch was launched in Malaysia in September 2026 alongside the more capable Redmi Watch 6 Lite and Xiaomi Smart Band 11 Active. Xiaomi priced the Watch 6 Active at RM229, with an introductory promotional price of RM159.
That puts it firmly in Xiaomi's affordable smartwatch category, but the specifications are surprisingly competitive for the price.

1.85-Inch AMOLED Display
One of the most important upgrades is the screen. The Redmi Watch 6 Active features a 1.85-inch AMOLED display capable of reaching up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness. AMOLED is particularly welcome on an affordable smartwatch because it provides deeper blacks and stronger contrast than the TFT/LCD panels commonly used in inexpensive wearables. The watch also supports an Always-On Display, allowing information such as the time to remain visible without requiring you to raise your wrist.
At 1,200 nits, outdoor visibility should also be reasonably strong, although actual readability will depend on lighting conditions.

Up to 18 Days of Battery Life
Battery life could be one of the biggest reasons to buy the Redmi Watch 6 Active. Inside is a 470mAh battery, which Xiaomi rates for up to 18 days under light usage conditions. That maximum figure doesn't tell the whole story, though. Under normal daily usage, the claimed battery life falls to approximately 12 days. Heavy usage with the Always-On Display enabled reduces it further to around six days.
Usage | Advertised Battery Life |
|---|---|
Light use | Up to 18 days |
Normal use | Up to 12 days |
Heavy use with AOD | Up to 6 days |
Those are still excellent numbers compared with smartwatches that need to be charged every day or two. Actual battery life will depend on screen brightness, calls, health-monitoring frequency, workouts, notifications and Always-On Display usage.
Bluetooth Calling From Your Wrist
The Redmi Watch 6 Active supports Bluetooth calling, allowing you to answer and make supported calls through the watch while it remains connected to your smartphone. This can be surprisingly convenient when your phone is inside a bag, charging across the room or simply somewhere you can't immediately reach it. It is important to understand that this is Bluetooth calling rather than independent cellular connectivity. The watch does not replace your smartphone with its own SIM connection. For buyers coming from a basic fitness band, however, being able to answer calls directly from the wrist is a significant upgrade.
More Than 140 Sports Modes
Fitness tracking is another major part of the package. The Redmi Watch 6 Active supports more than 140 sports modes, giving users plenty of options for recording different activities. It should make sense for everyday activities such as walking, running and gym workouts, as well as users who simply want to keep track of their general activity throughout the day.
The more expensive Redmi Watch 6 Lite goes further with over 150 sports modes, five-system GNSS and advanced swim tracking, so serious outdoor runners and swimmers may find the Lite a better fit.
Heart Rate, SpO2 and Stress Monitoring
Despite its affordable positioning, Xiaomi hasn't ignored health tracking. The Redmi Watch 6 Active provides 24-hour heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring and stress tracking. These features can be useful for observing general trends in your activity and wellbeing. Sleep monitoring also makes the long battery life particularly valuable because you can wear the watch overnight instead of charging it every evening.
However, smartwatch health measurements shouldn't be treated as medical diagnoses. If a reading concerns you, use an appropriate medical device or speak with a healthcare professional.
Slim Design and IP68 Protection
The Watch 6 Active has a 9.9mm-thick body, giving it a relatively slim profile despite the large display and 470mAh battery.
Xiaomi currently offers three colours: Midnight Black, Matte Silver and Sunset Orange.
The watch also carries an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating. That provides useful protection against dust and everyday exposure to water, although an IP68 rating shouldn't automatically be interpreted as permission for every type of swimming or high-pressure water activity. If swimming is a priority, the Redmi Watch 6 Lite is the more interesting option because Xiaomi specifically gives it a 5ATM rating and dedicated advanced swimming analysis.
Redmi Watch 6 Active vs Watch 6 Lite
Xiaomi has positioned the two new watches quite cleverly.
The Redmi Watch 6 Active is the cheaper everyday model. You get AMOLED, Bluetooth calling, long battery life and extensive fitness tracking.
The Redmi Watch 6 Lite steps up to a 1.96-inch AMOLED screen with a sharper 410 × 502 resolution, 1,500-nit peak brightness, built-in five-system GNSS, 5ATM water resistance, a 9-axis sensor and more than 150 sports modes.
Interestingly, both use a 470mAh battery and advertise up to 18 days of light usage, 12 days of normal usage and six days of heavy usage. The Active therefore makes more sense if you want the smartwatch essentials for as little money as possible.
Who Should Buy the Redmi Watch 6 Active?
The Watch 6 Active looks particularly suitable for students and everyday users who want notifications, activity tracking and Bluetooth calls without paying for a premium smartwatch. It's also appealing to fitness beginners who want to track workouts, heart rate, blood oxygen and general daily activity. And if you hate charging wearables constantly, the advertised 12-day normal-use battery life is arguably one of its strongest selling points.

Final Verdict
The Redmi Watch 6 Active looks like another strong affordable smartwatch from Xiaomi, particularly for buyers who don't need advanced GPS or professional fitness features. The combination of a 1.85-inch AMOLED display, Bluetooth calling, 140+ sports modes and a 470mAh battery capable of around 12 days of normal use gives it a compelling feature set for the price.
At an indicative Nigerian price of around ₦60,000, it could become one of Xiaomi's most attractive entry-level smartwatches once availability expands.
Buy the Redmi Watch 6 Active if you want an inexpensive smartwatch for notifications, calls, everyday fitness and long battery life. If built-in GPS, swimming analysis and more serious outdoor workout tracking matter to you, spend more on the Redmi Watch 6 Lite instead.
